Napraquatic Medicine

A unique modality

IN THE FIELD OF AQUATIC THERAPY

Jaz is an Osteopathic Practitioner, Doctor of Naprapathy, Aquatic Osteopathy instructor and a pioneer in the field of Aquatic Naprapathic Medicine. Doctors of Naprapathy specialize in the treatment of conditions involving the fascia and neuromusculoskeletal systems. She is the creator of Napraquatic Medicine, an innovative modality that blends the benefits of hydrotherapy, Osteopathy and Naprapathic Medicine.

This innovative modality uses a variety of 3-dimensional techniques that would be impossible to utilize during a regular "land-based" session. Her doctoral thesis investigated the "Effects of Aquatic Osteopathy-Naprapathy Therapy on Parkinson Disease". Her research showed positive outcomes, supporting the idea that Aquatic Osteopathy-Naprapathy Therapy has the potential to become the standard for PD care.

BENEFITS

OF AQUATIC OSTEOPATHY &

NAPRAPATHY IN A WARM POOL

Pool Tiles

Hydrostatic/water pressure reduces swelling and contributes to blood and lymph circulation. In addition, Aquatic Osteopathy & Naprapathy techniques help increase proprioception, a specific type of body awareness. Our proprioceptors (specialized mechanosensory neurons) are located within muscles, tendons and joints and are responsible for monitoring the position and movement of our body structures. Improving proprioception is beneficial to everyone and crucial for patients working on balance and recovering from musculoskeletal injuries.

Additional benefits of Aquatic Osteopathy include:

  • Stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for digestion, absorption, tissue restoration, etc.

  • Promoting healing, relaxation and tissue restoration. Aquatic Osteopathy is an excellent rehab modality. Sessions are ideal for spinal cord injury patients.

  • Reducing the load on the joints, promoting body awareness, relieving pain, and improving motor skills.

  • Increasing musculoskeletal alignment, efficiency and functionality.

  • Enhancing venous return and lymphatic-blood flow.

  • Promoting health and wellbeing prior to, during and post pregnancy.

WHO

CAN BENEFIT FROM OUR AQUATIC SESSIONS

A Woman Looking out of a Swimming Pool

Our aquatic sessions are indicated for most people, from children to seniors, including the healthy and high performance athletes. This restorative practice is most beneficial for those looking for healing, deep relaxation and introspection. At Postureffect, we would highly recommend this therapy if you:

  • are looking for tissue restoration after a competition or weekend-warrior practice.

  • are looking for healing following surgery, trauma, whiplash or other musculoskeletal lesions or injuries, such as sprains, strains, and in particular, spinal cord injury.

  • have a stressful lifestyle, have unresolved traumas or tend to hold emotions.

  • suffer shallow breathing or restricted thoracic cage and want to improve breathing functionality.

In addition, our aquatic sessions promote healing and wellbeing prior to, during, and post-pregnancy.

HOW

WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR SESSION IN A WARM POOL

Relaxing dip

Depending on your condition, we may suggest to include the following modalities into your session.

  • Exercises for Breathing Functionality.

  • Joint mobilizations (spinal, hips, etc.).

  • Muscle releasing & Trigger point techniques.

  • Neuromuscular techniques such as PNF and MET, stretches and other soft-tissue techniques.

These techniques do not cause pain when applied on healthy tissues. However, pain or discomfort may be experienced when conditions such as muscle "tightness", myofascial adhesions, restricted blood flow (ischemia), nerve compression, and tissue injury are present.

Let us know if you are simply looking to have a relaxing & introspective experience.

We can certainly leave the non-relaxing techniques for a following session ;)

S. Garza's experience

"During my first Aquatic Osteopathy session with Jaz, I became more aware of myself and I felt energy flowing through my body. After the session, my headache was gone and I felt so relaxed.

It was like a mechanic adjustment to a rusted body. Now, Aquatic Osteopathy has become part of my regular health-care routine. "
