LATE BUCKLE

The following limitations are usually at the origin of this swing characteristic.

"Any mobility restrictions in the lead hip, core weaknesses, lower back dysfunction or ankle restrictions can lead to the Late Buckle. If the player is unable to rotate into their lead hip or stabilize the large forces that are produced through impact, the knees will act like shock absorbers to lighten the forces. This will also reduce the power and speed being transferred into the ball." -TPI

A restricted internal rotation of the lead hip can prevent the player from rotation into their lead hip during the downswing, causing them to slide towards the target instead. As well, a Stability or Motor Control Dysfunction in rotation, extension or flexion (lead hip) can cause instability when trying to post-up through impact.

Positive Tests: “Lower Quarter Rotation”, “Bridge w/ Leg Extension”, “Single Leg Balance", Seated and Prone Hip Rotation.

The ankle normally inverts through impact. If the player is limited in inversion, they may compensate by sliding. Also, a limitation in lead internal tibial rotation may cause the player to slide instead of rotating through impact.

Positive Tests: Passive Ankle Inversion, Seated and Passive Tibial Rotation Tests.

A core Stability and Motor Control Dysfunction (weak core) can be at the origin of this swing deficiency, similar to the sway deficiency, sufficient core stabilisation is needed in order to do a proper weight shift.

Positive Tests: Bridge w/ Leg Extension”, Passive Lumbar Lock Extension/Rotation, Half Kneeling Narrow Base Test.

MAY WE HELP YOU?

Postureffect programs are designed to help increase your mobility, stability and balance by decreasing amongst others, fascial and musculoskeletal restrictions, dysfunctional patterns of movement (ex. scapulothoracic rhythm), adhesions and musculoskeletal imbalance (ex. upper and lower crossed syndrome).

In order to offer you a more complete, functional and wholistic treatment plan, we partner with
like-minded Medical Practitioners, Golf Professionals and Physical Trainers that are able to focus on the aspects that need to be addressed but we don't specialise in.
